From: Meinolf Weber [MVP-DS] on 13 Oct 2009 08:17 Hello Jake, No need for disconnecting, keep in mind for a 2008 R2 DC you have to upgrade the schema according to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731728(WS.10).aspx Just check out the upgrade guide posted before. Depending on the OS architecture use adprep32.exe (32bit) or adprep.exe (64bit). Another issue comes to my mind: If I recall correctly R2 is 64bit only. We currently run win2008std in 32bit. What else do we need to be aware of when jumping from 32bit to 64bit in this case? New drivers? What else...? regards jake

Hello Jake, In-place upgrade from 32bit to 64bit is not possible, it requires a reinstall. For drivers you have to check the hardware vendor website before. But as far as i realized until now there is a really good driver support included within 2008 R2. Other problems related to the OS architectur i didn't heard about until now.
