I would be grateful for any pointers.

My immediate problem: how to find 55% in Spotlight?
[Intel MacMini 10.4.11]

I just get around five thousand reports of 55
with whatever happens to follow.

Basic problem: finding any reference to
- what are special characters in Spotlight,
- how to use them for their special purpose,
- how to find them with their normal text values.

Thanks

Download the free EasyFind - I have Version 4.0.1 - and search
for " 55% " This will find any "55%" with space either side.
Won't work in Spotlight.

Searching for "55%" (with the quotes) seems to work fine for me using
Spotlight. It found several PDFs and web pages that contained 55%.

Beats me. On my Tiger, it is:

spotlight "55%" no
spotlight " 55% " no

easyfind "55%" no
easyfind " 55% " yes

The difference may be that I'm on Snow Leopard. Spotlight has obviously
improved since Tiger.
