???? What site did you go to? VirtualDub is freeware. The download
mirrors are hosted on SourceForge...you download the file and install it.
The author doesn't sell CDs...he barely has time to work on the
software, according to his home page. http://www.virtualdub.org/ Are you
sure it's not some site that tries to sell freeware? There are enough of
those around, unfortunately.

I find this interesting. I Googled VirtualDub and this was the first or second listing that came up. They hide their name in that I found nothing about them in the first encounter. The header on the the order with the fine print, I had to get a magnifying glass to read it, does have a name "CDearth". There is nothing to indicate who they are or where they operate out of.

I wonder if they aren't selling freeware. Me thinks they need looking into. I believe the mention of my going to the BBB brought they around but I'm going to watch my credit card. I don't even know what name they might use to charge something so I don't know who to even block on my card.

Sorry you ran into these jokers. Can't figure out how they ranked so
high for you in Google's search. I went through two pages of search
results using both VirtualDub and Virtual Dub and never ran across
anything but results for the freeware.

I hope the real author's page can provide what you were looking for in
the first place.

Ron. Thanks. I loaded it but deleted it because it couldn't read my video file. I recorded in a resolution of 352 x 240 MPEG-1,1.7Mbps. It used 5,261,150 kb of memory. I decided to not use AVI, the one it wants because it's in AVI, just that one 6 hr tape would have used too much memory. (3 hrs of it used 33G)

I am though, re-recording it at a high resolution of 720 x 480 MPEG-2, 8Mbps for a master copy. I figure it would have taken about 66G in AVI.

The Videodemux one I found wanted $59 so I ignored that one too.

I do have a Google listing of freeware ones though to look at so thanks
