From: BernhardSmily on 6 Dec 2009 08:59 Hi All, Can anybody help me with this problem other than a clean reinstall PLEASE! I have asked for help with this problem once before but no real solution was found. When I am trying to manually download the updates it tells me to either "Find" or, as it is an .msu file it does not tell me anywhere where to save it other on my Desktop. What do I associate with or where to save that the update works! Any help would be appreciated. From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 6 Dec 2009 11:12 Back up, cowboy: Are you telling us that 'Control Panel | Windows Update | Change settings' is set to the "Never check for updates..." option and you can't change it?... Or are you telling us that some or all updates are failing to install & throw a 80070426 error? What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 www.banthecheck.com BernhardSmily wrote: > Hi All, > Can anybody help me with this problem other than a clean reinstall PLEASE! > I > have asked for help with this problem once before but no real solution was > found.
