Sometimes with anti virus software updates, it can take us and the rest of the industry a little longer to get to the route of issues like this, as we need to replicate it here with simalar conditions. McAfee (which I abandoned in favour of AVG 2 years ago, got too clunky and intrusive) must have deleted the 'real' svchost rather than or as well as the impostor. Nice. Good to hear that system restore worked - not many people know it exists! -- Richard C

I restored to 6th April - the last time I know it worked - and all is now -- Woody harrogate three at ntlworld dot com OK, albeit I've had to do it three times!. McAfee of course deny any knowledge..................
