Sunbird from upstream likely comes in statically-linked binaries. This
means the required libs would be included in the .tar.gz they distribute.

I am sure someone else can explain static linking much better than I

I rather of a lazy compilation on a gnome enabled machine thus
integrating gnome dependencies...

Note that upstream asks for gtk and fontconfig, so why only
semi-static ?

Well, yes, Iceweasel just have different icon and name. Maybe there are other
differences, too? I remember I saw some article in Debian Wiki (if I recall
correctly) about that - should go and read it...
