From: dickpalais on 3 Jul 2010 20:43 A Website Devoted to Differential Equations A couple of months ago we posted a message here to announce the availability of a new website, devoted to the subject of Differential Equations, and whose goal will be to present that subject in an as an intuitive and conceptual a way as possible. The URL is: http://vmm.math.uci.edu/ODEandCM/ and its name is A Web Companion for "Differential Equations, Mechanics, and Computation". Our plan is to make available on this site textual material, multimedia (images, movies), and various applets and other interactive software to give the aspiring student (and those trying to teach the material) the best available tools and material to help them in their efforts to learn and to teach this elegant, useful, and classic subject. As the name suggests, this site was designed to accompany a recently published differential equations textbook that we authored, however the site and the material on it are freely available to all. (And in fact, 176 pages, or more than half of the books total of 352 pages are freely available on the website, including the entire 30 page introductory chapter.) While the site is still "under construction" (and we plan to go on improving it for some time to come) we feel that it is now in pretty good shape and we would like to invite all those with an interest in differential equations to pay a visit to the site when they have the time, and we would be most appreciative if you would give us any suggestions you may have for improving it. Send any remarks to: palais(a)uci.edu Richard Palais and Robert Palais
