From: ToddAndMargo on 2 Apr 2010 18:11 Hi All, I have a customer who has not been getting a backup since 3/3. He has a scheduled task: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Backup\bkprunner.exe" But, although I have a ""C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server" directory, I do not have the "Backup" subdirectory. On SBS 2003 server, what is the native backup program called and where is it located? If I have to reinstall it, can I get it off the Windows disk? Many thanks, -T

I am presuming "bkpwiz.exe" is the backup program. Any idea why I can not see the directory when I browse to it with Windows Explorer? Many thanks, -T
From: Larry Struckmeyer[SBS-MVP] on 2 Apr 2010 18:40 Hi ToddAndMargo: Strange that it would go missing.... Any errors show up anywhere? I just verified that that is the correct path. What may have happened is the folder was dragged and dropped under another folder.... please search for the terms backup or bkrunner.exe. But yes, if you go to Add/Remove and run the setup "Windows Small Business Server 2003" from there you should be able to install the backup program again. This is called "Maintenance Mode". - Larry Please post the resolution to your issue so others may benefit - Get Your SBS Health Check at www.sbsbpa.com > Hi All, > > I have a customer who has not been getting a backup since 3/3. > > He has a scheduled task: > > "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business > Server\Backup\bkprunner.exe" > > But, although I have a ""C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small > Business Server" directory, I do not have the "Backup" subdirectory. > > On SBS 2003 server, what is the native backup program called and where > is it located? > > If I have to reinstall it, can I get it off the Windows disk? > > Many thanks, > -T
From: SuperGumby [SBS MVP] on 2 Apr 2010 19:17 the program that actually performs the backup is NTBackup.exe. bkpwiz.exe sounds like the configuration wizard (I really have never looked) and bkprunner.exe calls ntbackup during backup. This is all fairly irrelevant though, what is the problem? BTW NTBackup is the native backup executable for all pre-vista versions of Windows, if you don't _KNOW_ this you shouldn't be mucking about too much with it.
