From: viewpoint on 26 Jan 2009 16:20 thank you all. at present working modem uses com4 assigned by the computer. some times i get error msg 633 on startup, but then i choose last known good config and it works. i dont want to spend any more time on this now, but i plan to find out what really went wrong with the original modem com3 port. i'm also looking for a usb external modem. thank you again.bye -- vpoint "smlunatick" wrote: > On Jan 23, 5:04 pm, viewpoint <viewpo...(a)discussions.microsoft.com> > wrote: > > thank you. > > Device mgr ports(COM & LPT) > > ******************** > > Class: Ports (COM > > Device: ECP Printer > > Resource: DMA: [00000003] IO: [00000378 - > > IO: [00000778 - > > Device Drivers: > > ******************** > > Class: Ports > > Device: ECP > > Resource: DMA: [00000003] IO: [00000378 > > IO: [00000778 > > Device Drivers: > > > > setting for modem in modem properties > > ******************** > > Class: Modems Device: PCI SoftV92 > > Resource: IRQ: [00000021] MEM: [FEBF0000 > > IO: [0000E800 > > Device Drivers: > > -- > > thanks again > > vpoint > > > > "smlunatick" wrote: > > > On Jan 18, 10:05 pm, viewpoint <viewpo...(a)discussions.microsoft.com> > > > wrote: > > > > I want to add some thing for those who have tech knowledge. > > > > Now Serial device driver properties showed > > > > > > NOW IT SHOWS > > > > SERIAL PROPERTIES> device type Non-Plug and Play Drivers > > > > > mfg unknown > > > > > location Unknown > > > > > device status > > > > > > This device is working properly. > > > > If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the > > > > troubleshooter. > > > > driver > > > > > > > service name serial > > > > > display name serial . > > > > > current status stopped > > > > > start up DISABLED > > > > > > NOW THE YELLOW MARK GONE THE PROPERTIES SHOW > > > > device instance id > > > > > > > ROOT\LEGACY_SERIAL\0000 > > > > > devnode flags > > > > > DN_ROOT_ENUMERATED > > > > > DN_HAS_PROBLEM > > > > > DN_MOVED > > > > > DN_DISABLE > > > > > DN_NT_ENUMERATOR > > > > > DN_NT_DRIVER > > > > > config flag > > > > > COFIGFLAG_REINSTALL > > > > > current power state > > > > > D3 > > > > > power capabilities > > > > > PDCAP_D0_SUPPORTED > > > > > PDCAP_D3_SUPPORTED > > > > > power state mappings > > > > > S0 ->D0 > > > > > S1 ->D3 > > > > > S2 ->D3 > > > > > S3 ->D3 > > > > > S4 ->D3 > > > > > S5 ->D3 > > > > > > UNFORTUNATELY I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE CHANGED INFO MEAN! dOES IT MEAN THE > > > > DEVICE FINE AND WORKING? > > > > THANK YOU. > > > > -- > > > > vpoint > > > > > > "viewpoint" wrote: > > > > > thank you. i have installed all updates and serial device driver do not show > > > > > yellow sign. have restarted several times during update install but never > > > > > turned computer off. i will do it and start allover again and then i will kow > > > > > if serial com3 port problem is resolved. thanks again. > > > > > vpoint > > > > > > > "smlunatick" wrote: > > > > > > > > On Jan 13, 5:27 pm, viewpoint <viewpo...(a)discussions.microsoft.com> > > > > > > wrote: > > > > > > > computer hp pavillion with win xp, now 2 years old. pc doctor states no > > > > > > > hardware failures. just did a D Recovery due to a com3 conflict.. > > > > > > > the Serial device has a yellow mark showing it's disabled. the properties > > > > > > > give the following info-- > > > > > > > non plug and play SERIAL > > > > > > > > > Selected Resource > > > > > > > ******************** > > > > > > > *DISABLED DEVICE* Class: Non-Plug and > > > > > > > Device: Serial No resources used.
