If you're not needing the beautiful cakewalk products (and I'm assuming you are not) then Audacity might help you out. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ It's OpenSource and free to use. It's pretty basic but it will let you work with most audio file formats and is pretty simple to use. HTH Scott
