From: Homer on 12 Oct 2009 13:25 I'm using OE 6 on a newly aquired laptop running XP. Recently OE has blocked attachments on emails from friends. A message appears in a white strip at the top of the screen saying words to the effect that OE has blocked access to an unsafe attachment. This has happened several times recently and the emails have been from friends. In the most recent one, it said that access was blocked but the photos were imbeded in the body of the email. I've looked in the options menu and I don't see anything in those settings that would be causing this. Any suggestions?

From: Homer on 12 Oct 2009 13:46 Thanks for the quick response. My7 machine is running XP SP3. I went to the link you provided. I looked at the security settings in OE and the box that blocks images is not checked. Is there something I'm missing? From: Bruce Hagen on 12 Oct 2009 14:01 If "Block images......" is not checked, then you shouldn't be seeing that message notice then. Have a look here. Otherwise I have no idea. It may be set too high for that application. Also you didn't say what service you get your mail from. Some services will hold attachments at the mail server end if deemed a potential problem. You see this a lot with web mail systems. Do you have an antivirus program running that may be inhibiting tatachments. Many AV programs will interdict attachments in e-mail unless you tell it not to. |
