I'd like to send mail with a folded subject line. Is that possible? I attempted prefolding a subject line and feeding it to sendmail. But what I see come out, has been unfolded. I tried feeding sendmail a very long subject line, it came out still very long, no folding.

Jeezo Pete... after doing only a light bit of research on this, I see it is way way over anything I will be able to piece together from apparently a large number of rfcs involved in this. Has anyone done a sort of summary of the rules for header folding? Or broken down things into laymen terms? The couple of rfcs I looked at, have a jumble of acronyms that them selves require yet more rfc research... it would be quite a job. But maybe not to someone familiar with all this. Anyone know of a URL or something where someone has made an attempt to explain the rules of header folding? I don't mean as in an rfc, but some plain english that gives the basic guidelines and summarizes. |
