Yes, it does. They have different motives, if nothing else. Cranks wish to force an unappreciative universe to agree with them. Trolls wish to create lots of reaction, preferably highly emotional reaction. (Or so I understand the terms.) It could be hard to tell which one a particular poster was, in practice. As I and others have pointed out, being a crank or pretending to be a crank is great way to get attention. Jim Burns
