Hi Steve,

thanks. 1st of all I need to rephrase us - - in my case it was silly getting even more silly, as it was certainly possible to pay more attention and I should have noticed it much earlier if not immediately. Wrt feedback, yesterday I sent an e-mail to files(a)mathworks.com, newsreader(a)mathworks.com, webmasters(a)mathworks.com and a thread to customer service. These are the various possible contacts left at various places at these messy sites. I'm curious, whether they all will react and which one 's gonna be the slowest.

If you want, you may try an experiment yourself. Look at your Community Profile / Customize your profile, and click then on How to avoid spam. Two hints: It'd be easy to include the clarification on the on the newsgroup e-mail directly at the Update page (instead a link). Given the fact that the newsreader e-mail is always displayed, the option Do not display my e-mail address is in fact useless. The community e-mail address should better not be displayed by default. For those who want, there should be option to display. Admittedly a literate person should be able to get the point from the site as is (what I failed at), on the other hand, if privacy policy is meant seriously, such things are done much differently. Obviously I am spoilt by the high-level of protection of my e-mail provider. As the site does not aim to care, it should be made more obvious to users. And second,
newsreader(a)mathworks.com seems not to be a valid contact, I got mailer daemon reports. This is precisely the contact under the How to avoid spam link. The case with 3 e-mail contacts to Mathworks, one of which not valid, is just another hint. Messy, messy, low-level sites. It would not be astonishing to me, if MathWorks was a non-profit free-time activity of enthusiasts - volunteers that are doing it as a hobby and the sites launched just recently, so as having kid's diseases. If it's not within the local capabilies, why not to invite Web Experts to get shape to the sites.

If you want, pass these remarks on to your colleagues. Through the normal channels they will get it mid next week and reply (based on past experience) mid 2nd next week at best. As the bottom line, the 3rd and 4rth next week I will receive e-mails asking me for feedback on customer service support, TAKING ONLY 5 MINUTES to fill in. *Please do not take the irony personally*. Thanks again.

I like the when my iphone guesses correctly how to translate my sloppy typing, but I get really irritated when it guesses wrong. Maybe the google tools will be better, but there are so many nuances to language, especially technical conversations like on this newsgroup, that this will be difficult to do perfectly.

Hi Nadezda -

To clarify a bit, MATLAB Central support received your posts to files@, newsreader@ and webmaster@ this morning - which what Shari was responding to when she contacted you as soon as she arrived. Support will forward their copy to us as well. I don't mind if you want to copy multiple aliases, but you don't really need to. We will respond as soon as we see your message. As has been mentioned before Files@ is always a good place to start. You can also email Shari or I directly if you have questions or concerns.

Regarding the Newsreader email concern, we're looking into different ways of addressing this. We hear your concern. We always appreciate when community members take the time to share thoughts with us on how we can improve our products and our site.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and for being part of our MATLAB Community!

Regards,
Helen Chen
and the MATLAB Central Team
