You shouldn't be embarrassed by it - well not in a deeper sense anyway.
When I see that someone readily fesses up to his misstatements, that
tends to make me put more trust in them as a reliable source. It's one
of the best signs I know. Folk who refuse to ever admit that they could
make even the most trivial of misstatements are ones that you can't ever
trust; yes, there are plenty such folk.
