From the CBC website above:

NOTE: We have recently switched the Vancouver live streams to an mp3
stream. This was done for various technical reasons, including problems
reported by Mac Quicktime users. While we work on fixing these issues,
please feel free to use the direct iTunes links below (copy and paste
into iTunes):

CBC streams in Windows Media format, which doesn't play on iTunes. If
you install Flip4Mac
<http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm>
You can play them via QuickTime Player's "Open URL" command ("File"
menu). You can use the "Favorites" commend in the "Window" menu to
create a list of stations. For the CBC station URLs, click "Go
directly to our full list of streaming URLs" on
<http://www.cbc.ca/listen/index.html>
