Don't have a cow, JG. I'm sure Michael meant no personal slight
against you. Perhaps he's unaware Frugalware is based on Slackware,
as are so many good distros, these days. ;)

Yes, which is the point that was intended.

For a neophyte, I would not suggest Slackware in the first instance,
since PC Linux, Mint Linux, and openSuse would I feel be more
appropriate.

But as Slackware had been mentioned, I was suggesting that a
derived distribution which offered an install of more packages
as standard plus some GUI administration tools might be more
appropriate.
