From: wissarut@bjc.co.th on 23 Nov 2006 22:36 HP C7438A 36/72GB internal DDS5 (DAT72) Drive not compressing using NTBACKUP on Win 2000 Server SP4? Already 1. Upgraded the drivers. 2. Upgraded the firmware. 3. Checked the compression ratio with HP Storageworks Library and Tools. 2.23:1. So it is okay. Windows Server 2000 Ntbackup.exe will not compress. At 42 GB it asks for another cartridge. I have tried using the /HC:on switch. It is also the default in the script created by ntbackup when running the wizard. Solution or suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks Wissarut. PS. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827475/en-us I can't find this Hotfix.

If the backup drive has no compression ability then the /hc:on switch has no effect.
