From: Don Pedro on 14 May 2010 10:07 Hi, yes it happens in non cached mode. And yes the email is delivered anyway. Happening to many users. From: Don Pedro on 14 May 2010 11:11 An update on this issue. The random number which appears beside the name is not so random. It is the directory name for the account. I verified this using the exmerge utility. "M" wrote: > Hello: > > Does this issue happen in Outlook NON-cached mode also? From: M on 14 May 2010 12:11 IIRC, ExMerge uses the alias name. Did the alias names change? -- Regards, M MCTS, MCSA http://SysAdmin-E.com "Don Pedro" <DonPedro(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:896729EE-62D0-4CF0-BA61-DEF674611AA3(a)microsoft.com... > An update on this issue. > > The random number which appears beside the name is not so random. From: Peter Durkee on 14 May 2010 12:37 Random numbers in the directory name like that indicate that there was a duplicate name during the account creation process. You can get rid of those numbers by editing the account's legacyExchangeDN in ADSIEdit. If you do so, however, make sure to create a custom X500 address for that account containing the whole original legacyExchangeDN, including the numbers. That will allow replies to emails from the original address to still work, and also allow autocomplete entries containing the numbers to still work. Of course all the autocomplete entries made before the editing of the legacyExchangeDN will still have those numbers show up, but any new ones will be clean. -Peter "Don Pedro" <DonPedro(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:896729EE-62D0-4CF0-BA61-DEF674611AA3(a)microsoft.com... > An update on this issue. > > The random number which appears beside the name is not so random. From: Don Pedro on 17 May 2010 06:09 Thanks for your help so far. The issue is not the directory names. They have always been there and since we have over 7000 users, we won't be cleaning them up any time soon. My original question, which I still need help with, is why are names all of a sudden appearing in autocomplete in this manner - e.g. Bloggs, Joe <Joe.Bloggs00120540> It never used to happen and I would like to know how to stop it from occuring. Thanks again. "Peter Durkee" wrote: > Random numbers in the directory name like that indicate that there was a > duplicate name during the account creation process.
