As I said, Vista with SP2
IE ver : 8.06.001.18882

From what ?
There was only one URL quoted and it's dorayme's
as above where you said, 'The above page, in IE . . .'

The 'quick' page has screengrabs in IE and FF of the
'thumbnails one at a time, vertically down the page'.

Well, actually it doesn't !

So you write web pages for firefox?

I write web pages for the real world, which still includes IE versions 6 and
7. In the majority.

No, I write webpages for my own amusement.

I am under no commercial constraints.

If people want to use some variety of Netscape running
under Win 95, or another similar out of date set-up, that's
up to them but I don't have to cater for them.

YMMV !

Works in IE8

Lauri's code does just that in the "previewer" of my text editor which
is probably based on an old IE but dunno how far back this behaviour
changes. I did have IE7 on one of my boxes but it looks like someone
(probably me) sneaked in and updated it.

Is it still worth going back further than that in terms of how many
people are still using earlier IEs?

I liked Lauri's gallery because it worked in everything I hit it with
and is easy to add to and move stuff around within the galleries
because the code's so simple
