From: Ratedr on 10 Mar 2010 07:12 Ok I hope that I am explaining this correctly: I had an issue with windows xp, and I wanted to repair it, but for some reason my disc (dont ask why) didnt give me a choice of repairing the windows installation..so I just installed another copy (now c: \windows.1 lets say) I dont want to go through the hassle of fixing everything, reinstalling my shortcuts, etc....I just want to be able to repair my ORIGINAL windows installation c:\windows. Is there a way, from the windows.1 installation, to repair the c:\windows installation? like doing the sfc /scanow but to scan the original windows installation?
From: "db" databaseben at hotmail dot on 10 Mar 2010 13:02 the problem may be that your o.s. on the hd is sp3 but your cd is sp1 or sp2. if so, then you would have a problem repairing your windows. you will have to use the slipstream method to create a sp3 installation cd in order execute a repair. -- db`...><)))> DatabaseBen, Retired Professional - Systems Analyst - Database Developer - Accountancy - Veteran of the Armed Forces - Microsoft Partner - @hotmail.com ~~~~~~~~~~"share the nirvana" - dbZen > > "Ratedr" <raskinscott(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:68079805-a28c-41ed-9328-d65f2634f11b(a)u9g2000yqb.googlegroups.com... > Ok I hope that I am explaining this correctly: > > I had an issue with windows xp, and I wanted to repair it, but for > some reason my disc (dont ask why) didnt give me a choice of repairing > the windows installation..so I just installed another copy (now c: > \windows.1 lets say) I dont want to go through the hassle of fixing > everything, reinstalling my shortcuts, etc....I just want to be able > to repair my ORIGINAL windows installation c:\windows.
