I assume you mean the SBS Backup? not a third party?

On SBS2008 first thing I do is Disable VSS on Drives and enable again
and see if the backup works?

Also if you are using WSUS Go into it and make sure you aren't needed any
updates.

Many thanks, SBS2008 backup, no third party. Will try disable VSS and see
