New sbs2008 Dell t105. 3 x 2 TB drives. Tring to creat a raid 5 partition on
about 1 tb x 3 drives for data storage. Takes forever to sync.

Popped three 1 TB drives in and reinstalled on same t105 and tried raid 5
with 600 gb x 3 and sync took 40 minutes.

That's why I authenticate the license at the end of a successful install/

Is this a know issue with 2 TB sata drives?

With software RAID yes this is a known issue
Please buy a hardware RAID card
you will be much happier with performance

No, but I will tell you to avoid using a single RAID5 volume for the
entire server.

Setup two RAID 1 volumes instead. You will thank me for it when one of
these drives dies and your customer will not even notice it.

Software RAID has *many* issues, not specific to 2TB drives. The more data,
the more the software has to try and manage. In short, I don't care if the
drives are 2TB or 2MB (okay, so I'm having flashbacks to my first hard drive
ever with that size...but stay with me here...) software RAID is not
appropriate for a business server. Even a small one.

Restore after a disaster, in particular, gets *VERY* nasty with software
restore. Just don't do it.

Hi Leonid,

Your input make me want to rethink about the setup that I did with one
of my customer. I recently setup their SBS 2008 on a RAID5, but did
not configure to your recommendation. Can you direct me how it is
done or a URL of a resource where I can read about it. Thanks!
