i can log in over terminal services, and use the machine, its file
shares are still up and running, print server is still working, but i
keep getting this error when i try and run any of my usual programs on
the machine (internet explorer, firefox, etc), what was strange with,
that i install IMAPI on the machine so i could use the windows 7 usb
install tool on the machine, and after the reboot, it went nuts, wont
allow me to run any program or i get the following error messages:

---------------------------
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
---------------------------
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

This application has failed to start because the application
configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this
problem.

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

and then the eventlog is filled with this message?

any ideas?

A Quick fix IMO is to restore system state from backup
Have you tried that?

no backup images of this machine, its no big deal to do a reinstall,
its just a fileserver, with all the files on a seperate disk (RAID5),
its just a curious problem, eventid.net didnt have anything pertaining
to issue, and i can only narrow it down to the imapi files i
installed, i tried using sbexec to run sfc /scannow but it failed with
a SXS issue..

psexec \\sserv SFC /SCANNOW -u

PsExec v1.97 - Execute processes remotely
Copyright (C) 2001-2009 Mark Russinovich
Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com

Could not start PsExec service on sserv:
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side
configuration is in
correct. Please see the application event log or use the command-line
sxstrace.e
xe tool for more detail.
