From: Philippa on 13 May 2010 15:37 I'm using Windows XP SP3 Eudora 6.0.0.22 A long time ago I made some changes to the Eudora windows. It's so long ago that I can't now remember what I was trying to do (was there a preview window? if so, I was probably trying to get rid of it.) I think I dragged the top of the Task Error/ Status window down to the bottom. Ever since then I have been unable to see any task errors. For ages I have just put up with this, but recently I thought, "Time to sort this one out," largely, I think, because I hate having things that I should be able to fix, but can't. I've tried dragging the "bar" back up an inch or so, and it will drag up, but immediately snaps down again. I've checked that the Task Errors Window is supposed to be in the foreground. I've tried opening it from the Tools menu (nothing happens). I've tried opening the Task Status window - no results there. The little yellow circle with an exclamation mark sits in the notification area, and if I right-click on that and choose "Show Task Errors" nothing happens. If I choose "Remove all Errors" the yellow circle goes away. I had thought that there would be an entry in the eudora.ini file, but I can't find any mention of the Task Error Window there either. I have gone through Google looking for detailed accounts of the eudora.ini file in the hope that I would find something there, and all that I concluded was that there's an awful lot that isn't in my eudora.ini file. I've managed without my error messages for ages, but now this problem is me a geeky itch. I may have to do a re-install to get this right, and - if that's the case - I'll probably go the whole hog and move over to Thunderbird. But before I jump ship, can anyone suggest either any solutions, or even just reasons why things are that way.

You can reset all default window positions in Eudora by closing the program and removing the line in eudora.ini that reads: Commercial32Version=16. This also changes the toolbar(s) to the defaults. Starting with version 6.2.3.4 you can achieve the same results without closing the program. Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys and right-click on the toolbar, then select "Customize".

Clarted around a little and almost gave up. Remembered that I could access the windows via the Tools menu, even if there was nothing in them. Clicked on Tools|Task Errors A window!! I didn't find even a hint of that trick anywhere. Many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply.
