Prev: Power Notification Icon gone after Windows Updates (Vista)
Next: Windows not updating - error code 80070422
From: Gwyddno on 29 Jan 2010 08:18 I've read and followed the advice to check BITS and Update are set to automatic and started but to no avail. I've done all that, then rebooted, but still can't get Windows to check for updates. I have the updater set to notify me which updates are available before downloading but as I've tried setting that to fully automatic and then checking for updates (didn't work) I'm guessing that's not a factor. Where do I go from here, please? Thanks in advance -- Gwyddno Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com
From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 29 Jan 2010 09:40 To avoid confusion, begin a new thread about your specific problems, accessing this newsgroup directly via news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate. State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) in your first post. Thank you. From: Gwyddno on 29 Jan 2010 11:33 I did consider that but I thought as it was a continuation of the same thread it would be best in that thread. My apologies if I've upset anybody, I'll repost as a new thread. It's not that you "upset anybody", it's just that you may have something different than the original posting you chose to respond to (which happens to be a year and a half + a few days older than your response) and things have changed since then. It's sort of like walking into a doctors office, picking up a file with someone elses name (somehow) and reading only the symptoms and saying to the doctor, "me too". Yet your background/history, your current health, your food intake and so on may be completely different. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |
