If it had, it would almost be necessary to fully shut down to release all this ram for w7 use, even I have 8gig. The total ram usage were over 4G. But I'm closer now to an understanding. It seems to be the socalled IC that mainly is responsible for this slow start. Having the IC off the loading is about the half. Fortunately I do expect using this IC not very often, as I require 32bit color and be able to set the font-size. I'll proceed getting some more experience with it. Am thinking just now it'll be unwise moving applications over and scrapping the old XP. I still wonder, if the others are faster in loading VirtualBox, VMware. /senn
From: Tom Mason on 2 Feb 2010 03:23 My 512 Mb VPC takes 90 seconds to fully load and be ready for use. XP-mode takes 3 minutes to load. Is this normal ?. Or what could otherwise be the reason for this long loading time. I have trouble with pinging a modem. I'll have to shot down the modem and seek new IP. Compleatly switching off the lan connection setting doesn't reduce the time taken for the next XP-loading. Does other virtual machines load faster, VirtualBox or VMware ?. Thanks for an answer. /senn

And the loading time you post, is it with or without IC on ?. What is your host operating system and 32 -or 64bit ?. Now I'm interesting in knowing what load time others have when loading XP-mode with IC on, and on a 64bit host. The 90 seconds is what I get when the integration is off. With the integration on it is more than 3 minutes. /senn "senn" <senn(a)homeplace&.fix> wrote in message news:%23KqaS50oKHA.5776(a)TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... From: Tom Mason on 2 Feb 2010 18:23 Senn, It's a Windows VPC, running on a 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate OS. All Integration Features are on, and it has to mount 5 DFS shares while starting up.
