From: senn on 1 Feb 2010 09:53 On a new Windows 7 64bit machine, with E9650, having 8GB ram installed. XP-mode takes 3 minutes to load. Is this normal ?. Or what could otherwise be the reason for this long loading time. I have trouble with pinging a modem. I'll have to shot down the modem and seek new IP. Compleatly switching off the lan connection setting doesn't reduce the time taken for the next XP-loading. Does other virtual machines load faster, VirtualBox or VMware ?. Thanks for an answer. /senn

The larger the amount the longer it takes to unhibernate... -- Bob Comer On Mon, 1 Feb 2010 15:53:43 +0100, "senn" <senn(a)homeplace&.fix> wrote: >On a new Windows 7 64bit machine, with E9650, having 8GB ram installed. >XP-mode takes 3 minutes to load. The XP-mode tells me I have 3712MB (3.712GB) accessable The VT in bios is of course set active. Autocad 14 runs pretty well indeed. Rendering a 3D is fast and 3D rotation too. Using a EAH5850 graphics card. But the long loading time or starting of the vertual machine itself is not acceptable. I have 4 lans on this motherboard "Asus P5Q Premium". The vertual machine has been given its own lan-cable on a secand of one of these lans. But as I said, I switched them all off. Had no influence on the long loading time. Any other idea ?. What loading time can be considered normal and acceptable ?. /senn

>What loading time can be considered normal and acceptable ?. I'd say 3 minutes is too long for only 1024MB of RAM, mine starts up in just less than a minute with 1024M of RAM and my machine is not near the specs of yours. Something is slowing you down but I don't know what. How long does it take to start up the VM if you shut down the VM first, rather than just closing it? (closing it hibernates it.) -- Bob Comer On Mon, 1 Feb 2010 18:00:44 +0100, "senn" <senn(a)homeplace&.fix> wrote: > >"Robert Comer" <bobcomer-removeme-(a)mindspring.com> skrev i meddelelsen >news:q7rdm5lvesuihcohspenlppelofp03ps25(a)4ax.com... >> How much RAM do you have allocated to XP Mode?
