From: Jason on 28 Dec 2009 02:27 Hi, I use a 3G usb dongle to access the net while away from home, and as is usual with these things, I'm limited to a set amount of usage. Unfortunately the usage monitoring software that came with the dongle is 'buggy' to say the least, meaning I cannot track how much of the 'allowance' I have utilised. Does anyone know of any 3rd party apps/widgets that will enable me to track my 3g internet use? Any help greatly appreciated. Regards...Jason 15" MBP Leopard

I've been using T-Mobile and Vodafone dongles for a couple of years on Windows and now have Vodafone and Orange *seeming to work fine on the MBP (using the latest Mac software from each). -- Duncan K Downtown Dalgety Bay

From: Jason on 29 Dec 2009 09:49 Hi Duncan, I also use a T-Mobile USB dongle, on a 15 per month pay-as-you go basis, with a 3GB limit. It works fine, - the speed can be a bit patchy depending on my location, but the problem is with the software that came with it; the 'T-Mobile web'n'walk Manager'. It has a 'Statistics' section that includes displays of daily and monthly upload and download rates. However, once reset, these no longer show any figures, no matter what I try. the only info I can access now is the speed, whereas I want to know where I am in respect of my 3G limit. Considering this, and the patchy speed, I am considering other providers, so would welcome any feedback on your experiences. Cheers....Jason Duncan Kennedy wrote: > In message <hh9mko$3rq$1(a)speranza.aioe.org>, Jason > <ThisisaDummyEmailAddress(a)DoNotUse.com> writes >> Hi, >> >> I use a 3G usb dongle to access the net while away from home, and as >> is usual with these things, I'm limited to a set amount of usage. >> >> Unfortunately the usage monitoring software that came with the dongle >> is 'buggy' to say the least, meaning I cannot track how much of the >> 'allowance' I have utilised. >> >> Does anyone know of any 3rd party apps/widgets that will enable me to >> track my 3g internet use? >> > Can't help with the Information you want5 but as a new MacBook Pro user > I would be interested in which mobile broadband provider you're using > and the kind of problem you see. > > I've been using T-Mobile and Vodafone dongles for a couple of years on > Windows and now have Vodafone and Orange *seeming to work fine on the > MBP (using the latest Mac software from each). >
