The Finder would crash for eg. hasn't happened since. Before the end it was a matter of iteration after iteration that never ended you just gave up and saw if it would restart. IT poisoned the firewire bus too, which was unhelpful. Even after putting it in an external enclosure it still poisons the FW ports even after a full reformating (1st as a Dos disc, then Journaled, writing zeros).
