If channels 6 and 11 are busy, using channel 8 may be worse than either one of them. See <http://www.moonblinkwifi.com/2point4freq.cfm> Excellent. Thank you. 6 seems to be working ok but at least I can use 1 or 11 just in case. -- Deja Moo: I've seen this bullshit before. See <http://www.moonblinkwifi.com/2point4freq.cfm> From the chart on that page it looks to me like all channels have overlaps, so I don't understand the assertion that 1, 6, and 11 don't have overlaps. One can only assign three non-overlapping channels. If 1, 6, and 11 (non-overlapping) are in use by neighbors, any other channel assignment will overlap with (at least) one of them. -- Tom Stiller PGP fingerprint = 5108 DDB2 9761 EDE5 E7E3 7BDA 71ED 6496 99C0 C7CF

The latest Airport Extreme (or the one I got at any rate) has the ability to produce networks on the 2.4 and 5 ghz bands, and can produce three networks: a primary network on the 2.4 and 5 ghz band and a guest network. Unfortunately, Apple seems to have dropped the ability to generate a WEP protected network. If you use this solution, you can just keep the WRT54G as a backup (since it won't be needed). |
