Well, in defense of Rowland, he can't be all bad, after all, he is a biker, I think. I would need to inspect the spaces between his teeth for dead bugs, to be certain. (bikers smile a lot when they are riding at speed) I started with motorcycles when I was 13, 68 years ago in 1942. I bought a new "Whizzer" bicycle motor for $100, clamped it into my bicycle frame. It was 2hp, would only get up to 35mph. Fixed that by installing a high lift valve cam, got speed up to 45mph. Milage was 130mpg. Started my trip from Los Angeles, California, to Seattle, Washington state, a distance of 954 miles - - - turned around, came back home, a round trip of 1,908 miles, not counting side trips. Adventures a-plenty during that long trip. That "hooked" me for real motorcycles. Mark-

We have a fine bunch of chaps here, but there's always a bad apple. Rowland McDonnell is taking a break from posting.... visiting his old mate Sarah. They were sectioned together. What a friendship! -- "Washington certainly owned slaves; I assume that Custer did, but I'm not sure. They were both certainly genocidal terrorists - idolized by many USAians, of course. Bastards." I was trying desperately to flex whatever adult muscles I had, because both my dad and my sister died, so I knew I would have to drop out of school to support my mother. > I'd like to apologize for Rowland's behavior. No need to, I do not hold grudges, although at the time Rowland's behavior really irritated me. Guess I will learn to put up with his nonsense, like most here do - - - after all, he is a fellow biker, so likely a good chap in person. Mark-

Plenty of bikers are scum - I've no good words to say about the Hell's Angels, for example. > I would need to inspect the spaces > between his teeth for dead bugs, to be certain. > > (bikers smile a lot when they are riding at speed) I'm an *ENGLISH* biker - the sort who rides all year round. Thus, I wear a /full-faced/ Shoei helmet, boots constructed[1] in Yorkshire, gloves from Germany, and an actual English-made woollen-lined waterproof armoured jacket. Only casual or seriously deranged[2] bikers wear open-faced lids for road riding in the UK. You Yanks don't know what weather is. Rowland. [1] No other word does the job. Traditional Yorkshire bootmakers using the latest technology: nothing finer. Lots of UK police forces issue as standard the same boots that I wear.
