"Best" is strictly a matter of preference, especially when it comes to usenet clients. I believe Unison has a trial period, so try it and decide whether you like it more than MT-NW, and whether it's worth $29 to you.

If you're not intereseted in bin groups then MT-NW is an excellent reader and doubly worth the admission fee. For my limited binary DLs I find MT-NW is up to what I demand from it too. If you depend on filters at all, then I found (last time I looked - the release version before last of Unison) that MT-NW was superior to Unison when it came to filtering at that time, I don't know if thats changed since but it would be hard to beat MT-NW in this area. -- dee

Unison is by far the best choice when it comes to binary groups. I rarely use binary groups, so for discussion it's not a good choice. MTNW and MacSOUP are both awesome in regards to text groups. You should try them both out, and see what you think. -- http://bit.ly/daWnEe

I'm going to disagree with that. Binary groups are notable for their large volumes of posts and their equally large volumes of spam. Unison was the slowest reader I ever tried when it came to fetching headers, and the filtering was *awful*. I paid for the last version before realizing it was useless in the long term. I see no reason to pay for the new version when it looks like they haven't improved basic operation. -- My personal UDP list: 127.0.0.1, localhost, googlegroups.com, ono.com, and probably your server, too.

I have been using Mozilla's Thunderbird (currently @ Version 3.0.4 for Mac). I use it under Windows OS as well. Have been using it from the time it was born as Netscape Messenger (pre-AOL purchase of Netscape).
