I see you're still using 2.60. You are aware that there are more recent
versions of MPG?

Current version is 2.9.15. It's still beta though. Latest stable version
is 2.8.1.

2.9.15 is proving stable here on Vista and has fixed a couple of
niggles I had with 2.8, such as wandering toolbars.

No probs with the beta for me. I like it. Haven't tried the binaries
features (which are quite extensive) - as I use Eternal September as a
server (and E.S. doesn't carry binaries).

2.60 here and stable as a rock... don't know if I'd ever use any 'new" features.

Anyone have a list of new features they use and why? Thanks.

I won't list the features, but after your version you should know
the following because of the migration to open source, which start
with v2.7:

1. Regular expressions changed to PCRE (good thing if you like
PCRE, but you might have to edit some REs in filters or rules or
scoring).

2. Now you are limited to one tool bar - but thanks to Richard we
put all the buttons back (the early 2.7 did not have a complete
button set).

3. The spell checker is different from 2.6 (was licensed so had to
be removed for open source). In v2.8, you would think the spell
checker is primitive compared with what you have now. In 2.9.x it
is changed to Hunspell and works well.

4. v2.9 changes the install for multi user OS like XP, Vista, Win7.
User data are stored in the User Dirs. You can also have two or
more major Gravity versions installed (so you could probably keep
2.6 if you fooled with 2.9).

5. Both 2.8 and 2.9 are compiled with newer compilers and optimized
for XP, Vista, etc instead of win 2k and 98. (ie faster and more
stable, much less database corruption).

6. Backup - the old GravityBackup does not work. Instead you can
backup up everything or individual servers without leaving the
program.

7. Gallery may not work (if you even use it).

Ver 2.8.1 is technically considered the "stable" version, but I
wouldn't even mess with it. I would go straight to 2.9.15, which
fixes a lot of stuff. A couple little bugs should be fixed for
2.9.16.
