She won't be around to spend her money when the WILL counts.

Right, the will counts in a certain way after she dies. But hang
on, it counts in another way before she dies. It probably bloody
well counts in yet a third way at the very time she is dying.
Shall we go on counting the way things count?

When the will counts, she won't be around to spend it, you say.
But this is *necessarily* false in the context because that is
what a will is, a means to spend one's money when dead. Mike, you
are making no sense here and no headway. What is going on? Why
are you so interested in poor old Michelle's death, you morbid
thing you?

I hope no one thinks *I* am excessively animated by the prospect
of poor Michelle's demise. While we have never got on much, I
don't hate her that much!

Reminds me of this tale:

There are some things one must impress on others for their sake
rather than one's. There is a difference between bragging (you
must know by now that is the last thing I would do) and
communicating. I tell you about my incredible qualities for the
sole purpose of letting you model some of them. It is an
evangelical thing I do in lieu of religion.

It is not withdrawal, but then subtlety has never been your big
thing. The idea here is that your pursuit of my statement (and
all of mine are trivial and silly, anyone can see that) proves
you chase such things.

Why? I don't need shoes, I have plenty already.

I must let you have the last word on this.
