That's a completely different question, then. That's a question more like "when will a model with the features I want get into the price range that I want?" While that can be a reasonable question to ask, it isn't at all the same as the one that you actualy wrote, which was just when a model with such features would be released. The answer to the question that you actually wrote is that they released such a model long ago. The odds of getting an answer that is useful to you are significantly higher if you actually ask the question that you want an answer for instead of asking some other question. And no, I have no idea what Apple's future pricing plans for specific models are. Nor does anyone who would be posting them here. One might as well pray for divine inspiration, which is about as likely to get an answer. (Even among those who might take divine inspiration seriously, I suspect most would not expect that to be a suitable kind of matter for divine inspiration. Ok, there are the folk that ocasionally mail me "prayer rugs" so I can pray for a new car or other worldly things.) -- Richard Maine | Good judgment comes from experience; email: last name at domain . net | experience comes from bad judgment. domain: summertriangle | -- Mark Twain

Ask nospam, he'll tell you that Mac are red hot -- litterally --, flashy -- in the screen, mainly -- and so, on and that you'll never have as much fun with a PC.

Perhaps you should buy yourself an older model used Mac. Those would definitely be in your price range. ; ) -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me. I responded to your last post and I will do it one more time. Buy the last model of the MacBook as a refurb from Apple (with 400 FW), a 500 GB 5400 rpm Seagate from OWC (~$100), and if you need it, 2 more GB of RAM from your favorite dealer. I also bought a USB case ~$27 from OTC, partitioned my Seagate so that the boot volume equaled the OEM HD, and used it as a portable Time Machine back-up. Backs everything up but my music and videos, for which, of course, I have the originals. Since I have been living out of a suitcase the last half year, that portable external minidrive is useful. As to Apple putting FW back in the MacBooks, I'd give it an ice cube's chance in hell. Apple has never put a port or storage mode back in a model once they have pulled it. -- During times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. George Orwell
