Here is a question for iPhone users.

Exactly how much can an iPhone help a workaholic?

In other words, is it worth the purchase in mitigating
the daily workload of foolish people who bite off
more than they can chew?

I mean literally, this guy even wolfs down food
to save time.

This SR student of mine really worries me,
as he constantly tries to grok a complex subject
like speech recognition way too quickly, hitting it
furiously, then dropping it for long stretches
because other commitments occupy his time.

He is a dedicated family man, well educated.

You know the type, a slave to their cellphone.

iPhone a good idea for him?

.... or will it just aggravate the situation,
making this guy "over organized", if that is possible?

I though I made it plain, without revealing details
about the person himself, here on usenet.

He is very overworked, way too many projects for him
to handle.

He is extremely ambitious, but he does not own an iPhone.

He owns several Macs, is a DEDICATED family man,
well liked in the community, _extremely_ religious, well
educated, but he is "up against the wall" when it comes
to personal income, despite his education and ambition.

(I am an agnostic heathen, myself)

I do not care to reveal any more personal details
about the man or his family.

My question is, keeping in mind that he is presently
financially strapped, should I advise him to buy
an iPhone to help him manage his many projects?

.... or is an iPhone a frivolous purchase for someone
like him, in his attempt to manage too many things
in his life?

One more detail, my friends cellphone is ringing
day and night with people (business) contacts that he
is attempting to manage in his hectic life.

My only connection with him is that he requested technical
advice from me to get one of his many business "startups"
off the ground. (involves speech recognition)

As I am one of the very few people here who gets fairly
good results with SR on a Mac, I was glad to help him
for free, given his obvious desire to learn the technology.

I know _nothing_ about an iPhone, except it is supposed
to be helpful to a person who has an overly hectic life.

Do you own an iPhone?

If so, what is your advice on this matter?

Why do you think this person should get that instead of an iPhone? Aside
from the fact that you're having so much trouble synching your BB with
your Mac that you've decided to do it through Windows instead, what
other advantages do you feel the BB offers over the iPhone?

Anecdotal evidence, since I have _extremely_ limited personal
experience with the Blackberry (borrowed the use of one from a friend
to make a call a couple of times about 4-5 years ago). But, one of my
bridge partners and a neighbor have recently switched from Blackberry
to iPhone and are pleased with the switch, both saying that the pluses
outweighed the minuses on the switchover.
