I think I meant a 3Gs anyway. I'm finding it hard to keep track of all
these iPhones/Pads/Pods/OSes.

I expect people here will be selling theirs shortly too.

I've got it in my head (so I'm probably wrong) the the difference in CPU
speeds is something along the lines of 400Mhz vs 600Mhz. So, faster but not
enormously so.

I must say though, having seem some comparisons of the 4G's screen compared
to the 3GS's, I'm very impressed.

Scroll about 1/3rd of the way down and there's a comparison of the Maps
icon. The difference is startling.

3G iPhones have been going for around 200 quid on eBay with the 3GS
model between 300 - 350. I guess it depends how much you want to spend.

I'm pretty certain the memory is the major speedup like you said
earlier - going from 20meg free to 148meg free in the same situation
is a big deal.

Great looking thing, isn't it? The screen is my primary wossname for
wanting an iPhone4. I'm expecting the camera to be a little better
too.

Judging by the issues of the iOS4 upgrades, the 3GS is the way to go
over the 3G, has the horsepower to deal with it.

As others have said whilst this afternoon ought to create a bit of a
lull, the fact the new retail 3GS price will drop by 100 on Thursday
and the glut of upgraders should push the price down of the 3G & 3GS
over the coming weeks.
