From: rnsinc on 3 Jun 2010 14:54 I just set up a new SBS 2008 server and everything is working fine except for one little thing. When I login to Remote Web Workplace and then choose to either "Connect to Server" or "Connect to a Computer" I get a Windows Security box asking for my credentials. The box has two fields, one for "User name" and the other for "Password". The default domain name is listed below the password box. That default domain name is incorrect. I *can* type in my username as <domain>\<username> and it will log me in. *** How do I change the default domain listed in the Windows Security box that pops up when using the Connect to a Computer function in RWW? *** I've looked in the IIS under SBS Web Applications\Remote and it's not listed under credentials there. I've checked in the TS Gateway stuff without luck. Where is this? Here are a few particulars: 1. s1.testdomainname1235.com is my DNS FQDN (# of characters, 18 in the domain name, and format are identical - name is changed) 2. I logon to the server as testdomainname1234\administrator normally... because the Netbios name is truncated. 3. The Windows Security box lists "testdomainname12345" rather than the Netbios name. 4. I type "administrator" in to the Username box and it tries to logon as testdomainname12345\administrator... which is incorrect and will not authenticate. I know it's nitpicking, but I want it to work without having to retype the Netbios domain name every time... especially for when I start granting users remote access to their computers. Trying to explain that the domain is off by 1 character and that they need to retype it would be a nightmare. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -- rnsinc ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rnsinc's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/228146.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/small-business-server/1343364.htm http://forums.techarena.in
From: "Robbin Meng [MSFT]" on 4 Jun 2010 00:03 Hello rnsinc, Thanks for your post. First, please check in IIS console and make sure that the NTLM authentication is enabled/selected on the "Remote" virtual directory under "Default Website". Meanwhile, I suggest that you save user credential by using following method on the clients: a. Run control userpasswords2 b. Under Advanced tab, click Manage Passwords c. Please add following entry: Log on to: Provide a server name or a domain name. You can user wildcards in the domain name. Some examples are *.yourdomain.com and Server01. Username: domain\username Password: userpassword Then check this issue again. Hope this helps.
