From: SudsMalone on 23 Sep 2008 07:40 Hi, I am sure you can do it and it is probably very easy to do! I want to change the published icon of my authorware exe file and don't know how to do it. Please help! Thanks a bunch in advance................:confused;
From: Erik L. **Community Expert** on 23 Sep 2008 10:54 Look at either the Microangeleo: http://www.microangelo.us/ or Axialis Iconworkshop: http://www.axialis.com/iconworkshop/ products. Either should do what you need. From: SudsMalone on 23 Sep 2008 17:15 Hi Thanks for that. How do I tell Authorware to use the icon that I create on my file when it is distributed? ie so when the user has it on their desktop it displays the icon I created not the Authorware one
From: Dave C on 23 Sep 2008 17:50 When you create an executable using Authorware, embedded into that executable are various resource, including the icons. Typically after you publish the file (i.e., create the executable) you then use one of those tools mentioned to edit its icon resources. With this method you have to do this every time you create an executable. I have heard that you can use those tools to change the Authorware executable itself (found down in a sub directory of the program files directory) and permanently change it's icons, thus all exe's that you subsequently create with it. I have also heard that this is not recommended.

Uh huh! I understand now, so it's the icon program that changes the properties of the finished exe file so when I distribute it, it has the new icon. I thought the programs just created the icons and allowed you to change just the icon on your own desktop, I didn't realize that information went when it was distributed... I should have looked further into it. thanks |
