From: Andrew Smyth on 29 Mar 2010 19:42 An electron has a "wave function". That is the electron is only a range of possibilities that do not become real (ie take on a specific value) until there is a conscious measurement. Experiments by Alan Aspect show that an apparatus can be set up that allows an electron to be measured without possibly affecting the measured electron. This is done by splitting the electron and measuring it's "entangled twin" This then gives a measure of the original electron without the possiblility of disturbing it. Next Aspect alters the experimental setup to make it impossible to measure the once entangled other electron thereby making it impossible to measure the electron. Guess what---now the electron does not take on a specific value---only because some "consciousness" did not observe it. It is not the measurement that causes the electron to become real object in our world---it is observation, alone, by a conscious being that does this. (This is not a matter of "faith", but the results of scientific experiments.) Now it so happens that a human being also has a wave function, ie, a human being is only one wave function, not a group of them. And in fact that is true for the universe---the universe has one unique wave function, too. And this is where the proof of god comes in. Just like the (simple) wave function for the electron, the wave function for a human, or for the universe, only exists as a range of all possibilities until some consciousness makes an observation. Only when that happens does the human being or the universe become real. Because the universe is, in fact, real, some consciousness outside the universe must have made this observation---and that consciousness can be called god. |
