From: Max on 22 Feb 2010 14:33 I would like to copy just the WBS and Task Names from an existing project to a new project in Project 2003 Standard, nothing else. If I simply copy and paste the WBS and Task Names, I loose the connection between the WBS and Task Name such that all indentations in the Task list are lost, i.e. there is no longer any structure to the Task list such as summary and sub tasks. Paste special at least seems to maintain the WBS list, but the indenting in the Task list is still lost. How can this structure be preserved in the process of copying?

From: Trevor Rabey on 22 Feb 2010 17:08 Why not copy the whole tasks, paste into the new file and then delete out everything (durations, predecessors, baselines, progress actuals) except the names? -- Trevor Rabey 0407213955 61 8 92727485 PERFECT PROJECT PLANNING www.perfectproject.com.au "Max" <Max(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C83D6A15-D402-4448-A24B-6D13D3A8F30A(a)microsoft.com... >I would like to copy just the WBS and Task Names from an existing project >to > a new project in Project 2003 Standard, nothing else. From: Max on 23 Feb 2010 11:53 Thanks, Rod. This appears to be a reasonable solution except that Project 2003 doesn't seem to allow pasting into the Outline Level field. I can alter the contents of an Outline Level cell and see the effect on indenting, but neither paste nor paste special alters the contents of the field. If I do a paste special and attempt to link to the existing project I get an error message saying that the Outline Level field is automatically calculated by Project. Any other ideas? Thanks, this may the solution as cumbersome as it is. I was hoping for something a bit simpler, but it should work.
