I would like to copy just the WBS and Task Names from an existing project to
a new project in Project 2003 Standard, nothing else. If I simply copy and
paste the WBS and Task Names, I loose the connection between the WBS and Task
Name such that all indentations in the Task list are lost, i.e. there is no
longer any structure to the Task list such as summary and sub tasks. Paste
special at least seems to maintain the WBS list, but the indenting in the
Task list is still lost.

How can this structure be preserved in the process of copying?

Try inserting the Outline Level field and also copying its data at the same
time.

__________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 4888 (20100222) __________

The message was checked by ESET Smart Security.

Why not copy the whole tasks, paste into the new file and then delete out
everything (durations, predecessors, baselines, progress actuals) except the
names?

Thanks, Rod. This appears to be a reasonable solution except that Project
2003 doesn't seem to allow pasting into the Outline Level field. I can alter
the contents of an Outline Level cell and see the effect on indenting, but
neither paste nor paste special alters the contents of the field. If I do a
paste special and attempt to link to the existing project I get an error
message saying that the Outline Level field is automatically calculated by
Project.

Any other ideas?

Thanks, this may the solution as cumbersome as it is. I was hoping for
something a bit simpler, but it should work.
