From: Robert Peirce on 22 Jan 2010 12:09 I am still running 10.4.11, but that may not matter. For some reason, I will sometimes load a DVD that VLC can see and DVD Player cannot. If I look in /Volumes, the DVD is there. If I have written a RW DVD, I can copy the contents to another folder. If I write it to another DVD, VLC can open it but DVD Player cannot. Anybody know why that is?

What filesystem format are you using? If it isn't UDF then it isn't a proper video disc and DVD Player won't recognize it.

I actually don't know that. I write the RW DVD in a LiteOn writer. They are almost always readable in DVD Player, like 99% of the time, but every once in a while they aren't. I assume they must be UDF or they wouldn't usually work. Also, I can always read them in VLC. If DVD Player doesn't see them, MacThe Ripper doesn't see them either, but I can use Unix cp to copy them. When I edit the copied files in MyDVDEdit and test them with DVD Player it does see the files but once I write the file to a DVD, DVD Player doesn't see that. However, VLC does and my other DVD players do as well. It is very strange and I do not understand what is going on.
