But why did the gods allow so many stars to already die? Talk
about shitty customer service! They could have made stars with
heavy elements right off the bat being spewed across the universe
instead of requiring stars to forge them, then eject the heavy
elements in a series of violent explosions and star deaths. The
gods could have figured out a way, surely---- that's what gods are
for, ain't they?

You completely misunderstand the nature of stars -- and god(s).
Remember god is/gods are eternal. Therefore the life and death of a
star is like a flash to him/them. The universe is just a fireworks
show for the amusement of the assembled pantheon while the kiddie gods
run around eating salt water taffy and cotton candy.
