Brian,

You got that because they configured their software to run only with
..Net 2.0 rather than 2.0 or higher. In reality, 3.0, 3.5, and 3.5 SP1
are really 2.0 with some extra features that don't interfere with 2.0.
This means that any 2.0 program will run correctly with 3.0, 3.5, or 3.5
SP1.

..Net 4.0 will be released with Visual Studio 2010 which is due out
sometime in the next two months.

HTH,

Bob

That won't help. Since he already has 3.5 SP1 installed.

If he really wanted to get 2.0 on his machine he would have to uninstall
3.5 SP1, install 2.0, and then re-install 3.5 and apply SP1.

Thanks for the info Bob. I'm now in .NET hell, with various bits
kicking up and refusing to install. I'm at the stage of trying to
rebuild and having Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
refusing to install. I can't blame the author of this software for the
"odd" .NET 2.0 ONLY requirement... but I sure as hell wish I'd never
heard of it now!

When you try to install an update for the .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0,
3.0, or 3.5, you may receive Windows Update error code "0x643" or
Windows Installer error code "1603"
