If I am working FOH or monitors, and not directly employed by the band, it is not up to me to tune anything for them, nor do I feel obligated to deal with any of their backline. That's simply not my job. You cannot polish a turd, and I've yet to see a console with a "talent" knob. -- Steve <snip> McQ

That's simply > not my job. I see that as elitist. You're approach is 'It's a job, that's not my job.' Not a thing wrong with that. My approach is 'Get this show up.' I don't see anything wrong with that either. Just don't stand in my way. > You cannot polish a turd, and I've yet to see a console with > a "talent" knob. Agreed and agreed, but musical talent doesn't necessarily imply the mechanical talent to repair instruments or the analytical talent to troubleshoot and fix backline. There are times my advice was 'Punt!' and I stayed out of the way of the train wreck, but it was ugly.

Asking people to be less negative and be more positive is something you don't find helpful. What a strange thought process. I'd like to hear more of what you think works better.
