From: jdm_222 on 29 Sep 2009 09:44 Hello, Is it possible to build an architecture that has an Exchange edge server in a DMZ that communicates with the Exchange server on SBS 2008? If so, what does the licensing look like for that? Do you need to purchase additional licenses or Exchange software for the edge server? Thank you,

However, I have not set it up on SBS 2008 yet. I can provide you details with configuring it in a non-SBS environment, which I posted below to just give you an idea of what the layout would look like and what to expect. Possibly someone else with SBS 2008 specific experience setting it up can comment better if the SBS wizards are involved or not. I don't think SBS 2008 is designed to work in this fashion....it is not going to buy you much anyway. If you need enterprise-level topology then SBS is not the product for you.

I really don't see the point in a single Exchange server environment. Same with FE/BE in E2003 and prior ... unless you need to serve OWA for multiple backend servers, not worth the bother.
