I gave up in the end and got one of these off ebay...

much less hassle, stick the tape in, go out for lunch, come back and put
the DVD in the Mac. Presto.

I had endless grief. At the time I had a G4 powerbook as my fastest
machine so apart from speed problems I had connection issues etc. etc.

It was far easier. And, as an added bonus, I only lost a fiver on the
deal when I resold it again two months later...

Worked OK for me on a MacBook air 1.6Ghz with the EyeTV Hybrid and
SCART>composite.
In the preferences (v3.x) under 'devices' I turned off 'enable
timeshift', closed the player window and recorded at high quality.

C2D Mini 1.6, 10.4, Hybrid, Composite from VHS. I think I remember it
working ok?

It was a while ago though.

No idea here I'm afraid. Emily uses the Hybrid on an iBook without too
much bother, and that was used on my old G5 before that. I'm using a
Miglia Duo with EyeTV on a plain MacBook with no issues.

On the G5 and iBook I did find turning off interlacing helps.
