From: The Wolf on 6 May 2010 07:52 Having trouble with this, followed all the instructions for settings and am just getting the spinning wheel. I sent myself a test message and mail won't retrieve it.

It's one thing to say you "followed all the instructions for settings," it's quite another to tell us exactly what those settings are. I'm not being flip - a client of mine once insisted he'd followed online instructions to the letter, but when I asked for a screen shot of Mail's account settings, it turned out he'd made a couple of errors. I should also point out that Mail 3.0 is out of date for your OS. I can't recall which version number it was last upgraded to since I'm using Snow Leopard and Mail 4.2, but there were definitely several free updates to Mail 3.0. -- Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi> Make money while saving money <http://www.bign.com/mrosenberg>

You left out: Is SSL on? Are you using port 993? Are you using your full gmail address, with the @gmail.com part, as your user name? -- Mac and geek T-shirts & gifts <http://designsbymike.net/shop/mac.cgi> Prius shirts/bumper stickers <http://designsbymike.net/shop/prius.cgi> Make money while saving money <http://www.bign.com/mrosenberg> |
