What else is there other than documentation (which > I'd presume was installed locally and afaik the link to that online is > the same as that w/ the product)? Depends what you mean by "locally"... The documentation for the copy of Matlab I use is installed on a server at work (not on my desktop at work), so that's not "local" in one sense. When I'm at home, getting access to that server documentation requires chaining secure tunnels and a remote X display -- faster than dialup, but it can take 5 minutes just to bring up the desktop, and thus I only light it up in times of special celebration; the rest of the time I google mathwork's site. Going to the mathworks site has the advantage of allowing me to search bug reports; though most of the time I just want access to the documentation. Also, the mathworks site has the complete toolbox documentation, whereas we only have 3 toolboxes installed on the fore-mentioned server.

Yes, the "No, not _that_ rock" school of project management. :( I had a DOE PM for years that was notorious for such generic criticisms (fortunately, he was the most unusual type that recognized the characteristic and was able to be flexible when it reared its head). I once gave him a box of rocks of various size and composition disguised as a contract deliverable so that he could have multiple ones from which to choose...Fortunately, he did get a chuckle from it. :) --
